COOMA
Gets very cold in winter!

Cooma is the major town in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW and is home to the famous Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme. There is an information centre for the Scheme which runs movies to show the history and technology of the project. Take the Lambie Town Walk to view some impressive historic homes registered with the National Trust. The Walk begins in Centennial Park where there is an unusual sculpture of the 'Man From Snowy River'. In winter visitors pass through Cooma on their way to the nearby ski fields but in spring and summer it is an ideal base for enjoying mountain bushwalking, the national parks and the cool mountain air.

Wadbilliga National Park is near Cooma and features a 3km walking track to Tuross Falls. Visit the Cooma markets, held on the third Sunday of each month. Also check out the Raglan Gallery and Cultural Centre and the Past Times Country Craft Centre. There is a llama farm 19km from Cooma, ride a vintage rail motor or try trout fishing or horse riding. Cooma and the surrounding villages offer accommodation choices such as farm stays, bed and breakfasts, caravans parks, hotels and motels.

Location
Cooma is in the Snowy Mountains region near Perisher Valley Ski Resort and Thredbo Ski Resort 420 km from Sydney via Canberra.
