The historic town of Bourke is an interesting central outback place to visit. Pick up a brochure and map from the Tourist Information Centre and take a tour around the town's historic buildings. Find the restored Lands Building, the Court House, the Post Office and the Carriers Arms Hotel. Take a drive to the Bourke Weir, where paddle boats can be hired for a two-hour river trip. Other sites to see include the Fort Bourke Stockade, the wildlife refuge, the cotton growing areas, wildflowers and fishing spots.

Gundabooka National Park is a park of rugged cliffs, gorges and hills, formed from rust-coloured rocks and features a number of aboriginal rock paintings. The Mateship Country Tour offers a 3.5 hour tour of Bourke and the district. For a unique outback experience, Comeroo Camel Station offers bush homestays on a working sheep & cattle station.
