The Blue Mountains region is only a short drive from Sydney and is a great place for a weekend escape from the city. The area features spectacular scenery, walking trails, pretty towns and villages, arts and craft shops, restaurants and galleries. Visit the famous Three Sisters at Katoomba and try the Scenic Skyway and Scenic Railway. The area offers scenic bushwalks as well as exciting abseiling and rock climbing for the adventurous. The historic town of Leura has a country village atmosphere and features beautiful gardens, quaint shops, galleries and cafes and Sunday markets. Another village to visit in the upper Blue Mountains is Blackheath, where you can take the walking track to Bridal View Falls and the Grose Valley. The town is known for its displays of rhododendrons, galleries and antique shops. Other activities on offer in the Blue Mountains area include canoeing, horseriding, fishing, wilderness tours, 4WD adventures and guided bushwalks.
