Armidale is a major city of the New England region and is a convenient base for exploring the area. Dumaresq Dam, 8 km north-west of Armidale, is noted for fishing in season, sailboating, swimming and picnics. Discover the impressive scenery of the Northern Tablelands by taking a short drive to Oxley Wild Rivers, Cathedral Rock and the New England National Park. Scenic Wollomombi falls are one of Australia's highest, with Chandler Falls nearby. Enjoy the breathtaking view from Point Lookout.
