Nanny Jobs - OVERVIEW:
A Nanny Job is basically child care work. A live-in child carer for an Australian family's children. If you have the childcare qualifications, there are plenty of live-in au pair & nannying positions available. It's best to sign up with recruitment agencies specialising in childcare. Local papers are a good place to look for nanny jobs placed directly by a family.

Any childcare job tends to be heavy on responsibility, especially if you are the live in child carer, and probably not best suited for those backpackers who plan on drinking all night and sleeping all day. If you're staying in a family home, you'll need to respect the family and you'll be expected to set a good example for the children.

Nanny Jobs - TASKS:
Quite often a driver's licence is required as you'll be picking the kids up from school and after school activities. You'll also be cooking their meals, playing, taking them places and maybe some teaching. You may have to help out with household chores as well.

Nanny Jobs - LOCATION:
Throughout Australia, though you'll usually find yourself in the middle class suburbs surrounding cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc

Nanny Jobs - DURATION:
Most families will ask for a minimum stay of a few months

Nanny Jobs - PAYMENT:
AU$120.00 to $250.00 a week for live in positions, food and accommodation provided. In general being a nanny is not well paid when you are a live in, mainly as your accommodation & food is all included. However extra perks of the job can sometimes be use of a car during the day, and free travel with the family.
